Welcome to My Rally Campaign
Hello, my name is Sallah Mohamed and I am currently a Mechanical
Engineering student at Wayne State University. I am 22 years old and live with my
family in a small town called Flat Rock. Growing up, I was always playing outside
with friends, family, and other kids in my city. Most of the time I would be biking, running, or playing basketball. That lifestyle changed forever when I became permenantely paralyzed back in November 3rd of 2017. I was completely devistated as every aspect of my life changed at that moment.
Recovery is an ongoing process. My goal is to just raise enough money to aquire a hand cycle. Unforturnately due to the nature of my accident, rehabilitaiton, and recovery has resulted in a signficant unforseen financial burdern at this sensitive juncture in my young adult life.
Why I'm Raising Funds
I am trying to acquire a hand cycle, I use to be an avid long distance runner and a moderate cyclist. I really miss enjoying the great outdoors and putting in the miles at the same time. Everyday as long as the weather is nice I will put in about 3 miles on my wheelchair, this is nice and all but I am destroying my shoulders and my chair. The other thing is, I am not able to travel far in my wheelchair as I once did when I used to run. I really want to get back into being athletic again and it is alwasy nice to be healthy and fit.
I would like to thank my Cross Country coach from high school, without him I wouldn't of recieved the KBF grant. A huge thank you to my friends and family for supporting me through my new journey. I would like to thank the Kelly Brush Foundation and all of its supporters for helping me achieve meaningful goals that will allow me to be as active as I was before my injury.
